WHO KRISTY WITHERS?
Hi I’m Kristy, I’m mum to two gorgeous humans Oscar who is 15 and Polly who is 12. I am also married to a very patient man Simon who I have been with for over half of my life! I’m a country girl, having grown up on a sheep farm with LOTS of cousins around. I live on a mini little farm just outside of Orange with my family, our Pomeranian Winston, our Border Collie Reggie and our stray cat Judy. We also have two alpacas – Bubbles + Barry and some cows. When I’m not hanging out with my family I am running my business I started 13 years ago – Incy Interiors.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE OUTFIT FROM OUR SS23 COLLECTION?
I’m obsessed with the Icon wool pullover, I have been wearing it weekly with jeans and skirts, it’s such a beautiful piece.

WHAT IS YOUR GO-TO LOOK FOR A DAY AT WORK?
For summer it’s a dress and slides/wedges and for winter its jeans/skirt/dress with a blazer or simple jumper. I have always been obsessed with fashion and have been amassing a pretty epic wardrobe over the last 15 – 20 years. I’m a big believer in wearing all of your clothes so one day I might have a tulle skirt on in the office and the next my activewear.

YOU OWN A VERY SUCCESSFUL FURNITURE BRAND INCY INTERIORS - WHEN DID YOU LAUNCH? WHAT IS THE KEY TO YOUR SUCCESS? ANY TIPS FOR BUSINESS OWNERS JUST STARTING OUT?
I launched back in 2011 when I was pregnant with Polly and Oscar was moving into his first big boy bed. To be honest I think the biggest key to our success has been our ability to change and adapt to different situations/markets, etc. I speak to lots of people who are starting out in business and my number one tip for someone at the very beginning is to decide if you have a business or a hobby. A business needs to be able to make money whilst a hobby can be done for pure enjoyment. Lots of people try to turn a hobby into a business, it isn’t financially viable and they start to dislike something they were previously really passionate about.

LAST YEAR WE COLLABORATED ON THE FABULOUS INCY LOUNGEWEAR SET, WHY DID YOU AGREE AND HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN TO SAY NO TO DIFFERENT PARTNERSHIP REQUESTS?
As you know I was already a big fan of your brand and had a couple of your pieces already plus growing up on a sheep farm, I had such an affinity and love for the brand so it was a no brainer for me. When it comes to partnerships, we only work with brands/people we genuinely love and believe in. I would never partner with something I personally don’t feel passionate about.

What are your best tips for redecorating a childs room?
My biggest tip is to have fun with it. A children’s bedroom is the perfect space to make daring design choices but make sure they are in consultation with your child. Our purpose at Incy is to 'inspire the kids of today towards greatness tomorrow’. A children’s bedroom is their one safe space in the world and I firmly believe as parents we have an obligation to make that space a place where our children can let their minds roam free and somewhere they can dream and create.

Fashion often follows Interior design for inspo especially colours – what do you think will be the next thing to dominate interiors?
I was only speaking with our US distributor yesterday and he had just returned from LA Fashion Week, where there were lots of black, moody tones and darker textures for winter. The one trend in furniture we are seeing everywhere is rounded corners and soft edges which I love!

What are you binging on TV? I am not typically a huge TV watcher but I have become OBSESSED with the Real Housewives of Sydney and New York.
Favourite flowers? Hydrangeas.
What do you never leave the house without? My phone, keys, mints & lip gloss.
Favourite scent? Gucci Bloom
Your first fashion moment? My mum is a total fashionista so I had lots of fashion moments but my earliest that I remember was when I was about 9 or 10 and mum bought me a Cherry Lane (remember that brand?) t-shirt that said ‘Give me the luxuries of life and I will willingly do without the necessities’. It basically became my life motto!
Dream purchase? My son is named after Oscar De Le Renta and my dream would to one day have one of his creations.
Summer or Winter? Summer definitely, can you believe I live in Orange?
Do you have a superpower?!
Once at a Life Instyle tradeshow, in a Hertz truck one of the guys at the dock told me I could reverse like a bastard. Does that count?
