Tell the Iris & Wool community about growing up on the land?

I grew up on a sheep and cropping farm north of Lameroo in the Mallee. I have the most wonderful memories growing up on the farm - a sense of freedom, horses, motorbikes, bonfires. As a young girl I loved walking the sheep with my grandfather and morning smoko when he would share my grandmother's homemade biscuits and cake. I believe my country upbringing contributed to my work ethic and success in business. Working in the wool shed at shearing time, my father taught me at a young age to never stand still and to always be doing something; pick up a broom, sweep the board. An attitude I will forever be grateful for.

I attended school in Adelaide as a boarder, then studied Interior
Design when I finished. I moved to Burra to manage an interior decorating business in Clare and fell in love with a farmer.

We then moved to Koomooloo sheep station northeast of Burra where we raised our three children, Jock, Posie and Hugh with the best (and some challenging) times that remote life can bring. Many gorgeous memories were made with claypan picnics, yabbying and school of the air gatherings. I loved my time in the bush and so grateful my children were able to have this foundation. We now reside in Adelaide where I run my interior design business from and am fortunate to work with many wonderful clients near, far and wide.

What is your idea of a perfect Christmas?

My perfect Christmas is having my family all together in the one place. I love love love Christmas Eve when all is quiet and we are all together. I love night time when the house is dark and the Christmas tree is glowing - absolute peace on earth.

We will be down on the South Coast this year. I am so excited to have Jocko, Posie and Hugh in the one place for a few days! Swim, sleep, eat and repeat!

What are your styling tips?

Often less is more! The effortless look can take more consideration however, with carefully curated pieces you can pull this off. Layering is key; start with a good base and work from here. Maximum three colour ways that complement each other.

What Are You Looking Forward to in the New Year?

I’m looking forward to embracing a new chapter with my youngest just completing Year 12. I have finished educating my three children through school and it looks like they will all be working on the land in different parts of Australia next year! Lucky me I will be able to visit. I am very much looking forward to travelling this great country of ours and visiting my rural clients, plus a few exciting tourism projects with regional
Australia - watch this space!
