Iris & Wool’s latest collection heralds an exciting new chapter for the label, which is steadily establishing itself as one of the few modern Australian fashion houses to have made merino wool their heartland.
The Woolmark-certified label continues to explore irresistible new spins on classic knitwear styles, marking a milestone this season by using Murkaby Wool from Founder Emily Rigg’s own farm in Burra, South Australia.
“We have always been passionate about the traceability and transparency of our Merino wool,” Riggs says.
“This year, our mill purchased 128 bales of our Murkaby branded wool at auction in Melbourne, allowing us to even better educate consumers on the benefits, background and beauty of one of the finest natural materials in the world,” Riggs says.
Anchored by the label’s relentless quest for quality and understated style, Iris & Wool’s latest collection, Provenance, continue to transcend seasonal trends in favour of function, unparalleled comfort and true longevity.
Taking cues from a refined interpretation of minimal elegance, classics sit alongside plush knitwear knockouts — think cable and waffle knits, woven dresses, oversize shackets and zipped funnel neck sweaters that take you seamlessly from the office to the great outdoors.
Thoughtfully crafted and impeccably tailored, the invitingly soft texture of Merino abounds in a 100% Woolmark-certified fluted Cable Skirt. Another collection highlight, the Kennedy Dress, delivers a contemporary take on a traditional ribbed pattern to make mastering winter dressing a cinch. Combining Iris & Wool’s passion for directional detail and obsession for the craft, handmade meets high tech in this woven dress. Perfect for wrapping up in by day, the clever corset-inspired silhouette also brings an after-dark appeal to frosty evenings.
Grounded in neutrals of navy, toffee, taupe and black, tones of tea rose pink and deep moss green take classic knitwear from staple to statement, while bold stripe scarves and beanies offer cosy accessories to reach for on repeat.
Bringing added luxe to loungewear, the collection also indulges cosy knitwear sets and sumptuous separates for effortless ease at home and beyond.
A corgi motif sweater — an ode to Riggs' beloved companion — and knitted dog coats are another first for the label and add a sense of playfulness to the polished collection.
