In support of kids living with cancer
Our Mission
Each year, over 1,000 children in Australia and 300,000 globally are diagnosed with cancer, which remains the leading cause of disease-related death in Australian children.
These are heart wrenching statistics – but you can make a difference.
Softly Brave is an initiative of Iris & Wool and the brainchild of designer and wool producer, Emily Riggs. A survivor of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma when she was just 9 years old, Emily understands only too well the devastating effect cancer has on children and their families.
Emily and her team are now on a mission to bring communities together to raise awareness, fund essential support services, and offer hope to families facing childhood cancer.
How can you help?
By wearing a Softly Brave piece, you stand alongside these children in their fight, helping to make a meaningful difference. 100% of all proceeds from a Softly Brave sale goes directly to the Childhood Cancer Association and the critical work it does supporting children living with cancer. This association gets no public funding – instead, raising crucial funds to provide free counselling, accommodation and respite, education and survivorship support to help families just like yours.

Help Support families who have children battling cancer
Our Softly Brave collection, designed with intention
In a time of acute illness and recovery, there is a craving for softness and nourishment. Children fighting a cancer diagnosis are incredibly brave and strong – but they need compassionate love and care more than ever.
And when it comes to the simple pleasure of wearing something as light as a cloud and warm as sunshine, nothing is better than Australian merino wool. Fine merino wool is renowned as a super fibre. It’s both strong and yet incredibly gentle on fragile skin. It’s beautifully warm and perfectly natural. It’s made to last and biodegradable. A super fibre, for super kids.
The Softly Brave collection includes soft beanies and elevated jumpers for adults and children, as well as specially designed tote bags to advance the message of the campaign. These pieces are not only sumptuous to wear – it’s clothing with purpose and passion to help create sustained change.
“I know what these gorgeous kids are going through. I’ve been through it myself and also lost my beautiful mum to cancer when she was just 43. I understand the grief, the fear and the sadness. But I also know what it means to have the support to fight, and the precious love to recover and get well. Help shine a light on the journey these brave kids are walking alongside their families and make their journey with cancer a little softer.”
