Q&A with Georgie Robertson: Regional PR and Wool

This season we have partnered with the talented and much loved Georgie Robertson.

Georgie is the biggest champion for regional and rural business. She heads up The Regional PR Co. A creative public relations agency based in Wagga. She works with entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, small business and big organisations that give a damn about regional Australia. She has been instrumental in the success of many regional endeavours, including Buy from the Bush, The Collective Hub and AgriFutures Australia.

And we think she looks so damn good in Iris & Wool

  1. What do you admire in Emily Riggs as the founder and creative director of Iris & Wool?

There are so many things I admire about Em - both as a businesswoman, a designer and as a person. Her use of merino to curate truly beautiful heirloom pieces from her home on a sheep farm around the needs of her two young children is inspiring. She has an ability to incorporate trends and high-end fashion vibes with the timeless appeal of sustainable fabrics.. While her personal story of overcoming tragedy and adversity as a child - beating cancer as a little girl at the same time as the disease took her beautiful mum - is a story that is both incredibly heartbreaking and speaks to human resilience.

  1. What do you love about the collection?

I love the versatility of the Autumn collection. There are pieces there that I could easily wear to a corporate function in the big smoke, to chunky sweaters that would look equally at home round a paddock campfire with my family. Home in Wagga Wagga at the moment is FREEZING in the mornings and then gorgeous sunny days - there are some perfect layering pieces in the current collection that keep me warm and chic no matter the mercury.

  1. What’s your favourite piece?

No doubt my fave piece is the cream Glenora Cable sweater and skirt. So incredibly versatile - I've styled it with my favourite tall leather boots of my mum's and a trench coat and have thrown it on with a pair of sneakers and a denim jacket. It's soft, so light, and the thermoregulation of merino works a treat. Heaven.

  1. What are you excited about with your partnership with Iris & Wool this season?

I'm thrilled to be partnering with Iris & Wool this season. To be honest, I think it's an honour to be part of the experiential storytelling that this home talent is crafting. I'm passionate about small rural business and bush community, which represent the core values of The Regional PR Co - authenticity, warmth and the power of story. Real humans making the world better with beautiful ideas and products. Iris & Wool evoke all of these ethics as a brand committed to sustainability and Australian fibre. Plus, Em is a gorgeous person inside and out!!

  1. Why is Australian Merino wool an important fibre in the fashion industry?

Merino wool is a truly critical element of Australian history. They say our economy was built on the back of a sheep and I believe the recent resurgence of the value placed on merino wool in the contemporary fashion industry is testament to its place in the fibre hall of fame. As we move away from all the pitfalls of man-made materials and embrace natural fibres - grown with love on home soil - we see more than ever how important longevity is. Clothes that last longer than a season, that transcend trends, to be worn and loved year and year. Versatile, sustainable, fashionable, good for you and good for the planet. What else is there to say?
